The Programme has been providing high-level education in the field of Bioinformatics since 2003, offering the first essential training to young scientists. In an era of explosive growth in biological research and data generation, the need for specialised scientific personnel is more urgent than ever.
The Programme is organised and coordinated by the Department of Biology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and collaborates with several universities and research centres in Greece, including the Agricultural University of Athens, the University of Thessaly, the National Technical University of Athens, Harokopio University, the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA), the National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF), the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, and the “Athena” Research Center.
The programme also includes lectures by invited speakers from leading academic and research institutions in Greece and abroad, such as the University of Colorado Boulder, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Lehigh University, and Texas A&M University.
The aim of the Programme is to provide specialised education enabling graduates to pursue careers in research or industry and to contribute to the advancement of biological research and technology.
